Principal

A Note from Mr. Todd Nurnberg

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  I am honored to be able to meet and continue my educational experience with you and your child(ren).  My name is Todd Nurnberg, and this marks my second year as the principal at Daniel Young Elementary.  I am a graduate of Creston Community School District and Southwestern Community College located in Creston, Iowa, Northwest Missouri State University, and University of Central Missouri.  I have had the opportunity to serve the Blue Springs School District for the past 21 years.  The 2023-2024 school year begins my 19th year as a school administrator.  During my time in the Blue Springs School District, I have served Moreland Ridge Middle School, Lucy Franklin Elementary, Sunny Pointe Elementary, Sunny Vale Middle School (currently Paul Kinder Middle School), James Lewis Elementary, Cordill-Mason Elementary, and Daniel Young Elementary.  Prior to that I taught 1st Grade at Lucy Franklin Elementary.  It is with much anticipation that I am looking forward to a new and amazing year as a Daniel Young Dolphin!

My favorite job is at home with my wife, Sara, and our five children, Taylor, Grace, Carter, Molly, and Tessa.  Along with our golden retriever, Charly, and golden doodle, Presley, there is never a dull, or quiet, moment that would find us bored or without anything to do.  We fill our days with a variety of activities that typically have something to do with the things our kids enjoy most.

My top priority at Daniel Young Elementary is the safety of everyone within our walls.  I believe that students learn best in an environment that is safe and secure, is clean and well-maintained.  I believe that our parents and staff members at DYE are the best in the school district.  I believe that by working together we can increase the achievement level of our Dolphins and put them well on the road to becoming high-achieving lifelong learners.  I look forward to working with you this year, and in coming years as we strive to ensure that your student achieves the highest level of academic success.

Yours in education,

Todd Nurnberg, Daniel Young Elementary Principal
